After two years of the Covid-19 pandemic, the 92nd annual meeting of the International Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics was held in person again August 15-19 in Aachen. It was great to see so many familiar faces and to join a conference with almost the entire BRAINIACS team. We organized a minisymposium MS6 on “Artificial meets natural intelligence: Data-integrated modeling and simulation of complex biological systems”, jointly with Alexander Heinlein, addressing the great potential but also challenges associated with combining physics-based and data-driven approaches. Many thanks to all the speakers and all attendees for the great discussions! In addition, all BRAINIACS PhD students presented their newest research results – for some their first in-person conference.
