From June 5 to June 9, the 8th European Congress on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences and Engineering (ECCOMAS Congress 2022) was held in Oslo, Norway. For many of us it was the first large fully in-person conference after the Covid-19 pandemic, with more than 2000 participants. We organized two Minisymposia, “Brain Mechanics Across Scales”, jointly with Paul Steinmann, Kristian Franze, and Jochen Guck, and “Contiuum Biomechanics of Active Systems”, jointly with Tim Ricken and Oliver Röhrle. Both were a great success with excellent speakers and vivid inspiring discussions. Congratulations to BRAINIACS PhD students Saeed Zarzor and Jan Hinrichsen, who gave their first in-person talk at a conference. It was great to see so many familiar faces after such a long time of virtual meetings only.
