On 12th of December, Dr. Thomas Boudou from the Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire de Physique, Université Grenoble Alpes, France, visited our group. He gave an inspiring talk within the seminar series of the Emerging Fields Initiative project ‘Novel Biopolymer Hydrogels for Understanding Complex Tissue Biomechanics‘. Thomas work on how cells respond to mechanical forces and the microfabrication of 3D microtissues was very interesting and relevant for the BRAINIACS project. Dr. Boudou ad his group have further developed several approaches to measure and modulate the mechanics of microtissues.

Due to Thomas Boudou’s background in mechanical engineering and his more recent work towards cells and biology, he was a great discussion partner to exchange ideas. In the evening, we had a great time and further inspiring discussions at the Christmas Market.
